Dunten
Dunten Manor was a summer manor located in Tondi in Tallinn, which was founded at the end of the 18th century by the mayor of Tallinn, Jobst Dunte. The local people soon started calling Suvemõisa to Tondi and that's how the exciting name became fixed for the entire suburb.
The Dunten summer manor, located on the hill named Tondi mäe, also gave its name to Tondi street. The summer mansion was located opposite the current Tondi barracks. In 1910–1914 a large military camp was built on Tondi for the personnel of the Peter the Great sea fortress. Its construction began in 1910, but gained momentum after 1912. The large, two-story, red brick and limestone barracks intended for the Peter the Great sea fortress artillery trail were built after the expropriation of the land of the former Dunten summer estate. The summer mansion itself was demolished in the 1970s, and now only a part of the Tondi park, former pond and the gardener's house have survived.
